Handling Austin Injury Cases Which Stem From Trucking Accidents
Trucking accident

This is the first post on what will be a series discussing the handling of Austin, Texas injury cases which stem from trucking accidents. We are writing on this topic as cases involving a tractor trailer present very different issues than those involving car accidents. It is important that residents of our area, who have been hit by a big rig, understand these differences. We cannot stress enough that such matters involve complicated legal issues and you should contact a personal injury attorney immediately.

We will be discussing several topics over our coming posts. Subjects which we will analyze include:

  • Identifying parties whom to sue in a trucking accident
  • Conducting discovery in such a case
  • The role which experts play in Texas trucking accident cases
  • Attending trial

These are important topics as many do not know what to expect from the process after a catastrophic accident. First, it is important to recognize that there may be multiple defendants in a trucking accident case. These may include the truck’s driver, the owner, as well as other third parties. Second, discovery in such cases is often more complicated than in car accident cases due to the higher number of defendants. Third, experts often play a much more important role as it may be necessary to gain testimony regarding industry standards, etc. Finally, a Plaintiff should know what to expect at trial in such a matter.

It is not suggested that Austin area residents attempt to handle such matters themselves. It is understandable, though not advisable, that many people attempt to handle the settlement of a car accident without an attorney. Truck accidents, however, involve much more serious levels of harm and far more complex issues. As a result one should have legal representation.

In addition to Austin, our personal injury lawyers also service Travis County cities which include Rollingwood, Round Rock, Elgin, Jonestown, Manor, Bee Cave, Lago Vista, Sunset Valley, Lakeway, Creedmoor, the Williamson County cities of Georgetown, Cedar Park, and Leander, as well as other areas of Texas.
